Purpose

The purpose of this Use of Force Policy is to establish guidelines and standards for the appropriate and responsible use of force by AP TAC Global personnel. This policy aims to ensure the safety and security of individuals while minimizing the risk of harm and promoting respect for human rights and the rule of law.

Scope

This policy applies to all AP TAC Global personnel, including employees, contractors, and agents, who are authorized to use force in the course of their duties. It encompasses situations where force may be necessary to protect individuals, property, or maintain public order.

Principles

a. Legality: The use of force shall be in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
b. Necessity: Force shall only be used when strictly necessary and justified, based on an assessment of the threat and the situation at hand.
c. Proportionality: The degree of force used shall be proportionate to the threat posed and appropriate to the circumstances.
d. Humanity: The use of force shall be carried out with respect for human rights and human dignity.
e. Accountability: All instances of force shall be documented, reviewed, and subject to appropriate oversight and accountability mechanisms.

De-Escalation and Non-Violent Means

AP TAC Global personnel shall prioritize de-escalation and the use of non-violent means to resolve conflicts whenever possible. Force should only be employed as a last resort when other measures have been exhausted or prove ineffective in achieving the desired outcome.

Use of Firearms

a. Firearms shall only be used by AP TAC Global personnel in self-defense or defense of others against an imminent threat of death or serious injury, or to prevent the perpetration of a particularly serious crime involving grave threat to life.

b. The use of firearms shall be restricted to situations where no other reasonable alternatives are available and when strictly necessary to protect life.

Reporting and Review

a. Any use of force by AP TAC Global personnel, including the use of firearms, shall be promptly and accurately reported.
b. A thorough review process shall be conducted to assess the necessity, proportionality, and compliance with this policy in each instance of force used.
c. Lessons learned from these reviews shall be incorporated into training and policy development to enhance future decision-making and minimize the need for force.

Training and Equipment

AP TAC Global personnel shall receive comprehensive training on the appropriate use of force, de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, and human rights principles. Adequate equipment shall be provided to enable personnel to carry out their duties effectively and safely while minimizing the need for force.

Cooperation with Authorities

AP TAC Global personnel shall cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities during incidents involving the use of force. They shall provide accurate information and support investigations into the circumstances surrounding such incidents.
Compliance with International Standards

AP TAC Global is committed to complying with applicable international standards and guidelines regarding the use of force, including those established by the United Nations, regional bodies, and relevant human rights organizations.
